The national selection committee on Saturday announced the squad for the upcoming Asia Cup, surprisingly captain Virat Kohli has been rested. Rohit Sharma will lead the side for this Asia Cup, The tournament starts on September 15 with the final to be played on September 28, 2018.
Khaleel Ahmed, who has represented India in the U-19 World Cup, got his maiden India call-up for the Asia Cup 2018. Suresh Raina, Umesh Yadav and Siddarth Kaul are among ones to miss out the tournament.
"Virat Kohli has been rested considering the workload. He has been playing continuously for quite long time. We need to preserve some of our precious players who are playing all 3 formats, so looking at the workload Virat has been rested for Asia Cup." said the selectors.
